My name is Maddie and I was born in Toronto, Canada to Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne and down-parkas. Music was a lifeline for me as I navigated my small world of school, gossip and anxiety-- frequently writing songs about being a misunderstood tween with a dream <3. In the summer of 2019 I connected with LA based writer/production group LIONCHLD (Britney Spears, Bebe Rexha) and together we made “SALT,” “OUR HOUSE,” and “EGO” which featured on my debut EP ‘MISS REGENT,” which was release in the fall of 2021. Since that release, ‘EGO’ had it’s viral moment on Tik Tok. It is currently at over 1 million streams across all platforms- and counting. After finishing the emotional pop ballad “Heavy Little Things” -I took time to develop my sound with my boyfriend and collaborator Cade Hoppe. I released my second EP, “Girl of your dreams” in December 2023. Featuring the single ‘ruining’, which was placed on Spotify’s “It’s a bop” playlist, and “Buy her a drink” which had received over a quarter million streams across platforms. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries. Sometimes you wish you could be anywhere but in the position where you might hurt someone if you tell them how you really feel, and so you push it all down and hope they’ll get the message somehow. At the time, I was honestly tired of being angry or sad. I’d almost finished my EP, which left me with a kind of peace I struggled to describe. It took a bit but eventually I arrived at the phrase “when I’m on my own I’m still in love” and it put everything into perspective for me. About how I was feeling, and how I wanted everybody who has had their heart broken to feel. Love can be blinding, especially when you’re young, and what may be so obvious to outsiders might be inconceivable to your love drunk heart. This song continues to narrate the journey of heartbreak that follows my 3 most recent singles. It almost parodies the mind of someone who is waking up and finally seeing the truth- the rumination is something I’m very familiar with and I wanted to use that coping mechanism to create the stickiest chorus.
